  Engineering Leadership Development Program

Program Overview

The AES Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP) is a five year program designed to develop high potential, entry-level talent for future leadership positions within the company.  The program provides a diverse set of experiences through challenging rotational assignments, training and development, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.

Rotational Assignments

ELDP participants complete three to five rotational assignments that provide exposure to a variety of challenging work environments. Typical assignments range from nine to eighteen months, with participants working in two or three different countries during the five years. Rotational assignments provide global experience in different power generation technologies, business management, and leadership.

Training and Development

Participants will begin the program with an on-boarding course, which will provide extensive training on power fundamentals and AES’s business. Additional training courses will be offered throughout the program to help participants strengthen technical knowledge and develop management and leadership skills. Language training will be provided as necessary to help participants learn the native language of a country for rotational work assignments. The program also includes a mentoring component whereby the personal and professional development of participants will be accelerated through exposure to and support from experienced AES leaders.

Eligibility and Selection

The ELDP is a highly competitive program. Students are recruited from leading engineering schools around the globe to build the technical talent pipeline in AES for future leadership roles. Current AES employees with less than two years of experience are also eligible for the program. ELDP participants should possess the following qualities:
